The micro SUV segment will soon see two new entrants in the form of Tata Punch and Hyundai Casper. The former will see an India launch this festive season while the latter will be introduced in 2022. With both SUVs likely to cost from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom), we wanted to find which SUV you, our viewers, would pick.
To find that out, we conducted a poll on our Instagram page and the results speak for themselves:
A total of 2019 respondents participated in this poll. And it was surprising to see that a majority of 1568 respondents voted for the Tata Punch over the Hyundai Casper.
The Punch is Tata’s entry-level SUV and slots below the Nexon in the carmaker’s hierarchy. It’s essentially the final version of the HBX concept that debuted at Auto Expo 2020. The Punch will be based on the ALFA platform (that underpins the Altroz) and will be offered only with a 1.2-litre petrol engine. More details of the Punch right here.

Similarly, the Casper is Hyundai’s entry-level SUV that slots below the Venue. Hyundai has done a fairly decent job of fusing retro and modern design elements in their micro SUV. The SUV is powered by 1-litre petrol engines in the Korean market. The India-spec model, though, could get the Grand i10 Nios’ engine options. Read the latest update about the Casper here.
